This Blows

The wind I mean. It blows. Ferociously.

I rode yesterday in the wind solo and killed it getting all pumped up for Het Volk, which I predicted correctly, right Smott? Anyway, after out betting Rich on yet another classic, I rode in the wind and flogged myself. The only problem with that is that I didn't leave much in the tank for today, and I had to ride with the original doper.

It started off well, just us and the freezing cold, the monster wind, the doper's race wheels burning it up as he puts the finishing touches on for Kurne-Brussels-Kurne, and then it happened. The old mushroom cloud.

It happened on a climb into the headwind after about an hour of fighting the wind. I think that I was going 3 at the top. I am actually stretching that a bit to make myself feel better, it was 2.8 mph. I was in the hurt locker. The best part is, I went all Whitlock on him after we turned into the tailwind section, only to pop myself again after getting the speedo up to 31. I managed to come off a 3rd time by the river, when finally, the doper's EPO wore off and he said we could slow down. God bless him. The ride was fun after that.

Anyway, I suck. I am going to try to get out tomorrow before I get trapped in a room for 4 days for work, but I don't see that helping me get better.

Here is my new sign off,

Slow kid in E'ville-and I don't mean the short bus.

Windy rides build character.. isn't that what you used to say??

Pippo sat in and waited for the race to come to him. At least Stuey and Flecha took the race to the field and tried. 600m was the difference today.

You're right, the wind "blows" but then so does riding the short bus.
