So you are supposed to train in the winter!

T-Rent and Richie came down for a few days of riding, affectionately called Fat Kids Camp. I have done 8 rides since Hilly of last year, so I was primed for the event. I guess you could say that I was sufficiently tapered.

I have heard from a lot of folks that the time you put in over the winter pays off in spades in the spring and summer. "Do the base in the winter, so that you can work on the specifics in the spring" they say. I am starting to think that there might be some truth to that. I have been getting a proper ass whoppin' every time I have been out this year (8 times).

I guess I am from the old school, race yourself into shape school of thought, but that doesn't seem to be the way to go anymore. I did notice that my Achilles was in agony at the end of the ride yesterday.

So here is the key take away(or Cliff Notes Version)for those of you at home. If you haven't been training, or touched your bike in two weeks, a 230+ mile weekend isn't too swift.

Now I can't walk up the stairs.
